Not.Your.Average.Joe. - Gerald Manangan

Name: Gerald Jucutan Manangan
Age: 22
Birthday: January 12, 1989
Location: Quezon City, Philippines
Nationality: Filipino
Talent: Dancing

Gerald started taking dance classes when he was 12 years young. He was inspired and driven to learn how to dance because of all the music videos he would watch. Stars such as Nsync, Michael Jackson, Aaliyah, and Britney Spears were a few of the ones that Gerald had greatest interest in copying. It didn't take long for his sister to take notice of Gerald's passion in dancing. And so she decided to bring him to his first dance class at Step One Studio in Sacramento, CA. He attended the hip hop class every weekend, and although the class was already at an advanced level, Gerald pushed harder to learn and keep up. Later on, he soon found out that his dance instructor, Joe Larot, was actually a member of the Jabbawockeez. Crazy?! Lol. And as the years passed by, his passion for dancing continued to thrive within himself, and his dancing life began to unfold even further. Lets take a break real quick and watch one of Gerald's dancing videos from youtube. Here he is, teaching a dance class choreo he made to the song Chase Our Love by Chris Brown.

The first dance crew that Gerald was in was Press P.L.A.Y., which was directed by Jason Magsuci. Yearning for more, he soon joined Catchafire directed by Elijah Cupino and Isela Perez, to broaden his knowledge of dance styles. But this was not enough for Gerald, so wanting to take it to the next level, he soon became the Assistant Director of thatONEcompany alongside Dennis Saicocie.

However, he soon moved to the Philippines in 2010 to continue his path in dancing and choreography. As of recent, Gerald has formed his OWN dance crew called, Oddacity. But before that, he was a part of two other dance crews: Limited Edition and Team Vibe. Being with Limited Edition has given him the opportunity to expand his horizons as a dancer, allowing him to perform on tv shows like ASAP (ABS-CBN 2), Eat Bulaga (GMA 7), and PO5 (TV5). But nonetheless, Oddacity is definitely the crew he has worked the hardest for (and with) in order to gather traction and form a reputation in the dance community. Anyways, lets take another break and watch Gerald show us his moves. So here he is, dancing to John Legends - Ordinary People. Enjoy!!!

As you can see, emotions truly are his source of "choreo juices". Gerald is very creative when it comes to dance. As of right now, he is one of the few people who can truly say that they are LIVING THEIR DREAMS. He is a professional choreographer under Bellhaus Ent. for artists such as P.Y.T., A-Five, and MarQ P. Now, there is only one more thing that he would like to do, and that is to open up his own studio. One that not only focuses as an outlet for the youth to learn how to dance, but also as a place for artists to further enhance their craft. But Gerald doesn't stop there, he wants to also open up his own Talent Management Center to personally focus only with dancers and choreographers.

Gerald is very career oriented. He wants to succeed and be the best that he can be, not just for himself, but for everyone that depends on him. The artists that he choreographs for needs him to be the teacher that they need. Fortunately for his friends, amidst all the dancing and choreo that Gerald focuses on on a daily basis, he still finds the time to hangout. Although, it comes to no surprise that at times he does forget. Okay okay, LAST video. ^_^ But this one is BY FAR my favorite. I love the concept of it, and the story. But most of all, the choreo is, in the words of D-trix from Quest Crew, "... straight up NASTY." HAHA! For all of you who don't know what that means, just know that it's a good thing. (: So anyways, here he is again, dancing to Somebody Special by AM Kidd.

DEFINITELY my favorite. Haha! Alright, well, we've reached the end of my post for another AMAZINGLY TALENTED artist. If you liked him, you can find him on Facebook and youtube, just type in his name. ^_^ And thank you all so much for the support and love that my blog is getting. I feel so humbled by it. Unfortunately, there will be no words of encouragement today. I'm still recovering from a sickness, and honestly cannot think too much right now. Lol. OH!! And also, thank you to YOU Mr. Gerald Manangan. It was a pleasure to work with you. (: And more power to everything you strive for.

This is the end. Peace OUT! Hahaha!

Yours Truly,
AJ T. (:
